2a/52 4 Surefire Marketing Strategies to Effectively Increase Your Leads
16 January 2025Key Concept: Marketing and sales are two separate processes, each requiring its own goals, systems and reviews. Many business owners confuse them, believing they are the same and treating them as one process. In simple terms, marketing comes first and focuses on generating leads. Sales converts those leads into customers through the purchase of products or services.
This is the second of two complementary articles: 2a/52 4 Surefire Marketing Strategies to Effectively Increase Your Leads. You can find 2a here.

Sales needs marketing to identify and open the doors to go through to secure the order.
There are four focus areas, which vary in order of priority, from the most cost-effective to the least cost-effective:
- Existing customers and existing products or services.
- Existing customers, new products or services.
- New customers, existing products or services.
- New customers, new products or services.
To grow your business, always start with existing customers and existing products/services. You already have a relationship with them, and selling to them is easier. Do they need to reorder or refresh what they have already? Do they have expansion plans that need your products/services?
Then, move to new products/services for existing customers. Again, introducing new products/services to them is easier based on your existing relationship.
Thirdly, using the new leads gained from your marketing efforts, sell your existing products/services to them. You are starting from scratch and building new relationships, which takes time.
Finally, you then turn to new markets for the new products you have added to your product/service offering.
To make your selling efforts more efficient in converting leads to customers, focus on these four key strategies:
1. Adopt AI-Driven Tools
- Automation: Use AI-powered tools to automate repetitive tasks such as lead scoring/analysing customer data, follow-ups and sales activity tracking, data entry and providing personalised experiences. This allows your sales team to focus their efforts more on building relationships and closing deals, enhancing efficiency and effectiveness in reaching and engaging your target audience [1] [6].
- Insights: Use AI analytics to gain deep insights into customer behaviour and preferences. This will help you tailor your approach for higher conversion rates, optimise your pipeline, and multiply results [3].
Many CRM applications now have built-in automation and analytic capabilities.
2. Enhance Customer Relationship Management (CRM)
- Personalised Customer Journeys: Implement advanced CRM systems that enable personalized interactions at every touchpoint, improving customer satisfaction and loyalty.
- 360-Degree Customer View: Ensure your CRM integrates data from all customer interactions, providing a comprehensive view that empowers your team to make informed decisions about the right process and product for the customer.
- Adopt an account-based selling (ABS) approach. Implement ABS strategies to dedicate more time and resources to high-value prospects. Define your ideal buyer profile, identify the right marketing channels for each account, and assign dedicated teams to high-value targets [1]. This personalised approach can significantly increase your chances of closing deals with key accounts and drive substantial business growth.
3. Expand Direct and Indirect Sales Channels
- Diversify Sales Channels: Explore new channels such as e-commerce platforms, marketplaces, and direct-to-consumer (DTC) models to reach a wider audience.
- Partnerships and Alliances: Build strategic partnerships with complementary businesses to tap into new customer bases and leverage shared marketing efforts.
4. Prioritise group calls and collaborative selling.
Book more group calls with multiple buyer stakeholders, especially later in the process. Studies show that the more buyer-side attendees in a sales call, the higher the win rate [4]. Additionally, foster cross-team collaboration within your organisation to create a more comprehensive and effective sales approach [3] [6]. This collaborative strategy can increase impact, peer pressure among decision-makers, and, ultimately, higher conversion rates.
These strategies may seem overwhelming in addition to everything else you are already doing and managing as a business owner. You can chunk them down and do one at a time or even one part at a time. If in doubt, let’s have a chat. You can contact me here.
In conclusion, implementing these four strategies will effectively help you convert the leads gained from the marketing strategies discussed in the first article to customers buying your products and services. These are four key strategies for business growth.
